Manager HSE – Hoofddorp


For our HSEQ & RC Department in Hoofddorp, we are looking for a manager with proven experience in HSE management. Our HSEQ & RC Department is responsible for ensuring that all business processes are recorded, understood, followed and improved. The department also identifies and interprets Coastal, Flag State and Class requirements and ensures that HSEQ risks for our company are identified and managed.


Bluewater is a leading provider of innovative Single Point Mooring systems (SPM) and operator of Floating Production Storage and Offloading units (FPSO). Since its foundation in 1978, Bluewater has built a technological lead specialising in design, development, lease and operation of tanker-based production and storage systems, and has become a leading provider of innovative Single Point Mooring systems.

Bluewater currently owns and operates a number of Floating Production Storage and Offloading Systems (FPSOs): the Glas Dowr, the Aoka Mizu, the Bleo Holm, the Hæwene Brim and Munin.


In this position, you will be responsible for the management of the section HSE and the performance of HSE activities in support of the company’s objectives as described in Bluewater’s Corporate Major Accident Prevention Policy and HSEQ Policy. You will establish a cooperative working environment and are responsible for the manpower planning. You will coach the team and identify opportunities for personal development. In this position, you will report to the Department Head HSEQ & RC.
Furthermore you will:
– select staff for the Aberdeen base (to provide HSE support to operating assets) and for project teams (to provide HSE engineering output, support in the area of operating permits and construction HSE coordination) in cooperation with the relevant managers
– supervise the quality of work from the team members and provide them with tools to effectively perform their work
– provide HSE input to other departments such as Tender Management and Contracts & Procurement
– suspend company’s activities when there is a potential or actual threat to human life, company’s assets or environment
– organise and/or perform internal and external HSE audits and HSE investigations
– chair HSE steering committee meetings, facilitate corporate HSE reporting and manage corporate HSE improvement programs
– represent Bluewater on HSE matters
You will be working from our office in Hoofddorp. If necessary, you are willing to perform activities abroad (onshore, offshore or with clients).


We are looking for a skilled communicator and strong team manager with excellent planning and organisational skills. Furthermore:
– you have a relevant Bachelor’s degree with over 3 years of experience in HSE management in an offshore/marine environment
– knowledge of relevant standards and legislation
– you solve complex issues for which helicopter view, in-depth expertise and good understanding of the business are necessary
– you are familiar with (offshore) process technology, major accident hazard management and application of risk analysis as decision tool for HSE issues in engineering and operations
– you are fluent in Dutch and English, both written and verbal
– you take ownership and are reliable in delivering results. You are curious and stay up-to-date with developments. You solve bottlenecks, change approach if things are not working, and keep an eye on the balance between quality, costs and benefits. You influence cooperation and ambiance in a positive way, values other’s strengths, talents and qualities, and builds on them.
