Mechanical Test Engineer – Hoofddorp

Bluewater currently owns and operates a number of Floating Production Storage and Offloading Systems (FPSOs): the Glas Dowr, the Aoka Mizu, the Bleo Holm, the Hæwene Brim and Munin.


As a Mechanical Test Engineer you are responsible for safe and cost-effective testing of existing and novel product designs to demonstrate and record the required technology readiness, provide input to necessary enhancements and to ensure that the required lifetime standards according to defined requirements are met and evidenced.
All activities will be performed in accordance with Bluewater’s Corporate Management System.


*Develop and maintain test programs and prepare and report mechanical tests.
* Liaise with and obtain approval from the assigned Product Development Engineer for all tests and reports.
* Execute mechanical tests programs under various conditions according to the defined technical, HSEQ and corporate requirements.
* Register, review, report and advise on alternatives on product requirements and product design.
* Contribute to the optimisation and development of the test process.
* Ensure efficient and effective planned maintenance on test equipment and tools. Apply appropriate housekeeping rules for the test laboratory.
* Support inspections related to the test laboratory expertise, FAT and offshore surveys/ provide hands-on offshore support.
* Report on progress, set backs, opportunities and risks, concerns and anomalies to both job leader and line manager.
* Keep knowledge and skills (in dept and/or broad) up to date and pro-actively share with relevant others internally.
* Propose, develop and maintain test standards, templates and tools in liaison with the line manager to improve quality and cost-effectiveness.


– Min. MBO NIV 4 Mechanical Engineering and several years of experience, preferably as a Mechanical Test Engineer
Good knowledge of hands-on experience with instrumented mechanical testing and pressure testing – – Analytical and optimising skills
– Problem solver, creative mindset and pay attention to detail.
– Adequate in English both written and spoken
