Naval Work student – Hoofddorp

Bluewater is a leading provider of innovative Single Point Mooring systems (SPM) and operator of Floating Production Storage and Offloading units (FPSO). Since its foundation in 1978, Bluewater has built a technological lead specialising in design, development, lease and operation of tanker-based production and storage systems, and has become a leading provider of innovative Single Point Mooring systems.

The Naval & Marine Section is part of the Engineering Department which performs the engineering of all our EPC products and conversions/relocations of our FPSOs
The Naval & Marine Section is responsible for any engineering on the hull, accommodation, helideck etc. and all the ship systems. This includes for example stability analysis, extreme ship motions, slamming, green water, fatigue, model testing and monitoring, longitudinal strength and foundation designs. The main software tools we used for this purpose are PIAS, FEMAP, Hydrostar & Homer, MATLAB and Nauticus Hull.

We are looking for a Naval or offshore engineering student who likes a part-time job aside their study.

Bluewater will gladly discuss with you the subject for the best match with yourself and your study. For example:

• Post-processing and analysing data from our hull monitoring systems (like wave impact loads and fatigue damage accumulation).
• Improving our in-house analysis tools (MATLAB)
• Analyse and optimise structures and structural details, like bilge keels, green-water protection, pipe penetrations etc.

Own ideas and initiatives are also highly appreciated.

Assignment can be full time for a couple of months or for example one or two day(s) a week for a longer duration.

Please do not hesitate to contact us too in case you are looking for a subject & company for an internship or for your Master Thesis.

As working student you should have education in naval or offshore engineering, with knowledge of- and affinity with hydrodynamics and/or ship structures.
You are motivated, enthusiastic, have a healthy amount of common sense and are eager to learn and develop your skills within, but also outside your comfort zone.
You like understanding and solving complex engineering challenges and apply both deterministic and statistical methods.

We offer a challenging ‘learn on the job’ position within an international environment.
