Product Development Engineer Floating Wind – Hoofddorp

Introduction

Bluewater is a leading provider of innovative Single Point Mooring systems (SPM) and operator of Floating Production Storage and Offloading units (FPSO). Since its foundation in 1978, Blue-water has built a technological lead specialising in design, development, lease and operation of tanker-based production and storage systems, and has become a leading provider of innovative Single Point Mooring systems.

Organization

Our Technology Management Department is responsible for the development of Floating Production Technology, Single Point Mooring (SPM) Technology, and Renewable Energy Technology. Furthermore, the Technology Department is responsible for product and concept development for tenders and technical studies.

Function

The Product Development Engineer Floating Wind is responsible for delivering cost-effective and innovative engineering output for tenders and studies. The studies can involve front-end conceptual engineering, the initiation of the new product developments, as well as the development of existing proprietary knowledge. The product developments focus on Floating Wind technology. Together with the Technology Manager Floating Wind, you will prepare the contents of the technical proposal and you are able to demonstrate the concept feasibility by performing (coarse) integrated load analysis.

Furthermore, you will:
• Execute agreed multi-disciplinary design and engineering and deliver quality output on time and within budget meeting defined requirements.
• Deliver agreed technology input and pro-actively support other disciplines for interfaces and (inter) discipline checks.
• Follow-up comment response internally and from external parties like Client, Authorities and Verification Bodies for timely approval of the design.
• Keep knowledge and skills within assigned products/ technology up-to-date.
• Propose, develop innovative concepts to increase our competitiveness and maintain standards, templates and tools for assigned products/ technology in liaison with the line manager to drive innovation, secure quality and cost –effectiveness.
• Act as a technology specialist for the organisation in the application of the assigned concepts, designs, principles and methods. Including development and protection of our Intellectual Property (IP), monitor and share relevant patents of others.

In this position, you will report to the Department Head Technology Management. You will be working from our office in Hoofddorp and you are willing to travel (onshore, offshore, construction sites or with clients).

Requirements

We are looking for an innovative and creative Engineer able to perform (coarse) integrated analysis combining aero- & hydrodynamics and structural expertise with a strong client orientation, communication and organisational skills.

Furthermore:
• You have a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering or Naval Architecture
• Currently eligible to live and work in The Netherlands (EU or NL work permit)
• About 10 years of experience in the Offshore Wind industry in Development/Engineering positions
• In-depth analytical and problem solving skills in aerodynamics, hydrodynamics and structures
• Experience in concept and product development, including technology qualification
• Experience with and expert knowledge of requirements from authorities, legislative and other industry requirements, codes, practices and standards
• Software literacy for discipline engineering, design analysis, database and control tools
• You are adequate in English, both written and verbal
