Senior Structural Engineer – Hoofddorp

Introduction

Bluewater is a leading provider of innovative Single Point Mooring systems (SPM) and operator of Floating Production Storage and Offloading units (FPSO). Since its foundation in 1978, Bluewater has built a technological lead specialising in design, development, lease and operation of tanker-based production and storage systems, and has become a leading provider of innovative Single Point Mooring systems.

Bluewater currently owns and operates a number of Floating Production Storage and Offloading Systems (FPSOs): the Glas Dowr, the Aoka Mizu, the Bleo Holm, the Hæwene Brim and Munin.

Organization

The Engineering Department is responsible for providing innovative, cost effective Engineering services and solutions in all areas of Bluewater’s business. It ensures a responsible approach to client requirements, international rules and regulations and HSEQ obligations in order to contribute to the realization of the company’s goals and strategy.

The Structural Engineering Section is part of the Engineering Department and is responsible for the design and engineering of the (steel) structures of Single Point Mooring systems and FPSO topsides. These structures are designed using 3D design tools. With finite element and analytical analysis, supported by in-house developed pre- and post-processing tools, the structures are designed for extreme conditions and fatigue life.

Function

The Senior Structural Engineer performs and reports the structural analysis for the structural work scope of any type of job, in line with the project’s technical specification, budget and planning. You reports to the Lead (Project) Engineer on progress, setbacks and concerns when assigned to a pro-ject. You will implement the HSEQ&RC requirements and assist the Lead (Project) Engineer in related meetings. You will reply to Inter Discipline Checks on time and also reply to queries from site, client, certifying authority and vendor on time. It’s important to signal technical risks and anomalies in pro-jects to the Section Head Structural Engineering. In the long term you can develop to lead engineer when al requirements are met in the work you deliver.

Requirements

We are looking for an ambitious team player who is disciplined and loves problem analysing and –solving. You have a strong planning and organization mind-set.

Furthermore:
– Bachelor degree in Civil, Mechanical or Structural engineering, Aeronautics or Naval Architecture.
– Currently living in NL or EU passport
– About 8 years of relevant experience in structural engineering.
– Advanced computer literacy, document processing and spreadsheets.
– Knowledge of Applied Mechanics.
– Knowledge of and experience with FE programs.
– Knowledge of analytical calculation/design methodology of any type of job.
– Knowledge of Python is a plus.
– Knowledge of materials.
– English good, verbally as well as in writing. Dutch is a plus.
