Planning Engineer – Hoofddorp

Introduction

Our Project Controls Department provides cost engineering, planning and secretarial services for projects. The proactive and accurate planning, scheduling, trending and forecasting of multi-disciplinary projects, over all its phases, is a pivotal and paramount instrument to control projects and to make these a success. The role of the Planning Engineer in this process is key.

Inherently the Planning Engineer for projects participates and interacts with all disciplines and phases of a Project – from ‘A’ to ‘Z’. This includes the (planning of) multi-disciplinary engineering, procurement, transportation, subcontracting for fabrication, erection, mechanical completion and commissioning – both onshore and offshore. This requires the Planning Engineer to have a broad technical and business inter-est, be inquisitive by nature and keep developing general knowledge on the products and processes in-volved.

Organization

Bluewater is a leading provider of innovative Single Point Mooring systems (SPM) and operator of Floating Production Storage and Offloading units (FPSO). Since its foundation in 1978, Bluewater has built a technological lead specialising in design, development, lease and operation of tanker-based production and storage systems, and has become a leading provider of innovative Single Point Mooring systems.

Bluewater currently owns and operates a number of Floating Production Storage and Offloading Systems (FPSOs): the Glas Dowr, the Aoka Mizu, the Bleo Holm, the Hæwene Brim and Munin.

Function

In this position, you will be responsible for preparation and delivery of project- and tender schedules, maintaining these up to date, re-forecasting and for monitoring and reporting the progress on projects. You understand relevant project plan objectives, contract requirements, specific client requirements and the Corporate Management System (CMS) requirements. You will set up, revise, optimize and keep up-to-date integrated schedules, structures and procedures.
Furthermore, you will:
– ensure all input to the project plan is provided in an accurate and timely manner;
– monitor progress, critical path and (re)forecast;
– analyse, advise and escalate consequences of deficiencies, (potential) risks, changes and opportunities;
– ensure timely and complete reporting, internally and externally;
– prepare, advice and monitor close out;
– contribute to handling of claims;
– ensure that lessons learned are integrated in daily practice and/or are formulated in recommendations for improvements.
In this position, you will report to the Department Head Project Controls. You will be working from our office in Hoofddorp and you are willing to perform activities abroad (onshore, offshore, construction sites or with clients).

Requirements

We are looking for:
a forward thinking communicator and constructive team player, with strong planning and organizational skills. You will offer pro-active assistance and initiate improvements.
Furthermore:
– you have a Bachelor degree in Technical Engineering and understand the basic principles of designing, procuring, constructing, assembling, testing and commissioning industrial installations;
– you are well skilled in the use of the MS Office Suite, MS Excel and MS Access in particular. I.e. you have a high affinity with IT / Information and Data processing in and between spreadsheets and databases;
– you are a proficient user of scheduling databases PRIMAVERA and MS PROJECTS;
– you solve complex issues for which helicopter view and context thinking are necessary;
– you are fluent in English, both written and verbal;
– you are creative and committed to turn opportunities into results, and you solve bottlenecks and change approach if things are not working;
– you see way(s) forward and share insights with colleagues and stakeholders;
– you have professional work-ethics and sense of ownership.
